Australia beat India in Mohali, level series 2-2
Australia, India, News | November 2, 2009 at 1:18 pmAustralians have levelled the series at 2-2, after a spirited bowling performance. Chasing a moderate total of 250, India got off to a flier thanks to Sehwag, but once he fell the scoring rate dropped drastically.
Tendulkar looked on course for a big one until he was given out unfortunately. Bollinger was the pick of the bowlers for the Aussies, snapping wickets at crucial intervals, but it was Watson who did the damage by picking up the wickets of Harbhajan and Praveen Kumar who threatened to take the game away. In the end it was a comprehensive win, and the series is set up beautifully for the next game in Hyderabad.
Ponting: It was a good game in the end, we were disappointed not to get close to 300, but we bowled and fielded exceptionally well. India got off to a great start, but Bollinger was fantastic. Yuvi and I had a tiff, he called me slow in the field, so it was nice to run him out. Happy to have drawn level, so looking forward to the rest of the series.
Dhoni: Our batting let us down, but the Aussies b owled really well. It was a fantastic ODI wicket, after the initial overs the ball was coming on to the bat. This was one of our best fielding effort in the last 1 year, we did well to restrict them. We have to be at our best in the remaining games.
Shane Watson is the Man of the Match: It was nice to contribute to the win, I was disappointed not to carry on with the bat. Really happy with those two wickets in the end, which turned the game in our favour. I was looking to contain the batsmen initially, but I must consider myself lucky to pick up a few wickets.
Final Scores:
Australia: 250 (49.2 Ovs)
India: 226-all out (46.4 Ovs)
Result: Australia won by 24 runs
