It was all back to back then. Watson hit back to sixes off Jeetan Patel to get back to back unbeaten hundreds and take Australia to back to back Champions Trophy triumphs. Spare a thought for the New Zealanders. They bowled very well with the new ball, picking up 2 wickets up front and choking Australia for runs. But Watson and White stitched a valuable partnership and Watson ensured that there are no hiccups even after the fall of White and Hussey.

| Shane Watson: Shane Bond and Kyle Mills bowled really beautifully and it was a great challenge facing them. It is great to be a part of such a great win. The situation was a lot more challenging and so was the wicket compared to my last hundred. | |||||

| McCullum: It is a huge disappointment for us. We missed a few key players due to injuries. Probably we were 50 runs short. The Australians built the pressure. We never got a start. Kyle Mills and Shane Bond bowled very well early on, unfortunately we didn’t provide them with enough runs.
Wayne Parnell wins the golden ball for being the leading wicket taker in the tournament with 11 wickets. |
