Australia win toss and elects to bat – 1st ODI – India vs Australia 2009
Australia, India, News | October 24, 2009 at 11:17 pm| Dhoni: We were looking to bowl, the top surface looks sticky, we want the bowlers to exploit that. The three days we spent in Mumbai was one of the most intense we’ve had in terms of the team-bilding exercise. Yuvraj, Munaf, Tyagi and Mishra are the ones who miss out. It will be a tricky series as we have 5 day-night games and dew will be a factor. |
| Ponting: It looks a bit tacky at the start, but once the sun comes out it should be fine. There is a good fielding around the group. Two very good teams No.1 and No.2 in the world and we are excited. Voges replaces the injured Ferguson. |

| Pitch: The highest score on this is 341 and the lowest is 148 which India made against Australia last time in 2007. The soil is imported 300 kms from Vadodara. Reddish clay content is clearly visible. Robin Jackman says it is a hard wicket and the ball will come on quite nicely. Not much in it for the spinners he reckons. Another batting beauty and coupled with the short boundaries it should be a run feast. |
Teams:
Australia (Playing XI): Shane Watson, Tim Paine(w), Ricky Ponting(c), Mike Hussey, Adam Voges, Cameron White, James Hopes, Nathan Hauritz, Mitchell Johnson, Brett Lee, Peter Siddle
India (Playing XI): Sachin Tendulkar, Virender Sehwag, Gautam Gambhir, Suresh Raina, Mahendra Singh Dhoni(w/c), Virat Kohli, Ravindra Jadeja, Harbhajan Singh, Ashish Nehra, Praveen Kumar, Ishant Sharma
Kasper: Dont mistake this for arrogance, it is called confidence and I predict 7-0 for the Aussies, while Michael Bevan says it will be 6-1 to the Aussies. Ravi Shastri though refrains from any predictions, saying he will watch the 1st 3 games and then make his prediction.
