Test Debutant Amit Mishra made a wonderful test debut against Australia in Mohali (PCA ground) by taking 5 wickets in the 1st innings of Australia. He was given a chance after Kumble's was opted out of the team due to injury.

Mishra was initially called into the Indian squad for the Test against the West Indies in 2002, but was not given a chance to play. He was allowed to play, however, during the TVS Cup in 2003, which took place in Dhaka. he plays for delhi daredevils in the Indian premier league. he got a hat-trick against the deccan chargers.
