Default Transgendered Man Pregnant

An Oregon transgendered man has revealed to The Advocate magazine that he is five months pregnant. Thomas Beatie is legally male and legally married to his wife, who cannot carry a child after undergoing a hysterectomy due to severe endometriosis. Beatie had chest reconstruction surgery and testosterone therapy, but kept his female sex organs, calling the desire to have a biological child “neither a male nor female desire, but a human desire.” Despite the pregnancy, Beatie asserts that his male gender identity remains constant and he looks forward to becoming a first-time father. The couple’s baby girl is due this summer.
