India beat Srilanka, lead series 2-1
India, News, Sri Lanka | December 21, 2009 at 10:18 pmWhat an anti-climatic way to end the match. Even Karthik was disappointed that Tendulkar missed out on yet another well-deserved international ton. But, mind you, Tendulkar would not lose sleep over that for his innings made sure that India won the match and he would be happy for that. Sehwag at the top gave the innings momentum with his high octane innings and from then on Sachin took over, playing the sheet anchor role to perfection to guide India to a win. The score of 240 was never enough on this wicket and India romped home to lead the series 2-1.
Presentation Ceremony:
Jadeja is the MoM: When I came on to bowl, I was thinking of bowling well and to apply the pressure. I just wanted to turn the ball and keep it on a wicket to wicket line. Whenever I get an opportunity, would want to perform well for India.
Sehwag: I was just praying that SL do not score 350 or 400 when Dilshan was going strong. Nehra and Jadeja bowled really well. I was in good form and utilised that early on. Sachin batted well and that innings won us the game. Our bowling was fantastic today. It is a team effort and it is a big win.
Sangakkara: The base was set, we got a blazing start, but too many wickets were lost and that was the story of the game. We lost momentum, lost wickets and RJ bowled really well as well. We had to get something with the new ball, the bowlers tried really hard, but not enough runs on the board. We are hit hard with injuries, today we were lacking a bit in discipline and control, and that is what we have to work on.
