New South Wales vs Trinidad and Tobago – CLT20 Final
New South Wales, News, Trinidad & Tobago | October 23, 2009 at 10:52 am| Pitch: The normal hardness is there, it looks a bit drier than the normal ones although it will not inhibit strokeplay. The grass have been cut very low today, there will be a consistent pace on this says Ian Bishop. Spinners will not get too much turn, it will not be lightning quick as well for the seamers. |
Hello and welcome to the summit clash of this inaugural Champions League between a red-hot Trinindad and Tobago side against a professional New South Wales Blues at Hyderabad. As we all know, the Trinidad side are unbeaten so far, while the Blues have lost just once – to the sheer brilliance of Kieron Pollard in the league stages – so we are in for a humdinger of a final…

Ground Reality: The Champions League has not quite caught the imagination of the fans in the way that the IPL has done, but from the point of view of quality cricket and format, it has been a big success. There is no greater testament to the format than the fact that the two best teams in the tournament are contesting the finals. Both New South Wales and Trinidad and Tobago have been the teams to beat, and indeed, the match they played against each other was a pulsating thriller. It is fitting that these two sides will contest the finals at Hyderabad. The forecast is for a sunny day, while the pitch at the Rajiv Gandhi International stadium has been batsman-friendly and provided some keen contests right through the tournament.
Teams:
New South Wales (Playing XI): David Warner, Phillip Hughes, Daniel Smith(w), Simon Katich(c), Moises Henriques, Ben Rohrer, Steven Smith, Brett Lee, Nathan Hauritz, Stuart Clark, Doug Bollinger
Trinidad and Tobago (Playing XI): William Perkins, Adrian Barath, Lendl Simmons, Daren Ganga(c), Dwayne Bravo, Kieron Pollard, Navin Stewart, Denesh Ramdin(w), Dave Mohammed, Sherwin Ganga, Ravindranath Rampaul
Katich: We were going to bat first, it suits our style of play. It is an honor to reach the finals, today is about replicating all the good results we have had.
Ganga: I think it is a very good track, we would like to restrict them and then chase it down. It is difficult to set a target on such a true wicket. We have taken it as 6 finals and today is the 6th.
Trinidad and Tobago have won the toss and elected to field
